Selecting the right blind for your home can be a challenging task. You will need to think about the types of windows you have, what rooms you want to have blinds in, and what you would like to gain from them? Many homeowners spend hours finding the right blinds for their needs with the countless options on the market. That’s why we put together this blog about one of the most popular choices that many end up selecting for their home: honeycomb blinds. Read on to find out why they might just be the perfect choice for you!

What are honeycomb blinds?

Honeycomb blinds, also called cellular blinds, are made from two pieces of fabric joined by ‘cells’  that fold or pleat up by the indents in the blind. When looking at these blinds from the side, they create honeycomb shaped cells. These types of blinds come in blockout and translucent fabrics in a range of neutral colours, making them an excellent choice for all the rooms in your home. We currently only have 25mm pleat fabric (a covid related supply issue)

Pros of honeycomb blinds

  • Thermal and sound insulators

Honeycomb blinds are excellent insulators and work well to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Their cells not only create a distinctive look but also trap the air, which causes them to be natural insulators. They also fit very closely in the frame, reducing the amount of air which can get past to the bare minimum. With energy bills becoming more and more expensive, honeycomb blinds increase your home’s energy efficiency while providing optimal comfort. In addition, they also reduce the noise coming into your home, making them an excellent choice for your bedroom if you struggle to sleep due to your neighbour’s dogs or road noise.

  • Slim profile

Their slim profile means they don’t require significant depth. Honeycomb blinds are versatile and flexible and are made to fit your window. When you raise the blind, the pleats stack at the top. With standard sized windows this is a small stack, but this does increase as the drop in the window increases (unlike roller blinds where the amount of room taken at the top changes very little Increased privacy

  • Increased Privacy

Honeycomb blinds give total privacy when down, whether blockout or translucent. They have the added advantage of allowing privacy for the bottom part of the window while still being ble to see out the top, a perfect solution for windows with a footpath outside or another house close by. This is achieved by adding a top down bottom up mechanism:  the blinds are still attached at the top of the window, but there is a second headrail which allows the blind to be placed wherever you want in the window:  you can have it covering only the bottom part of the window, or even place it part way up so you can see out above and below the blind but still see and allow light in at top and bottom.

If you are looking for a versatile and stylish option, honeycomb blinds can be an excellent choice for you, especially if you are looking for a shade that also increases the comfort of your home!
